Anyone figure out what keys are required for the Element Gates in the building with the Stone Tomb?

There are 4 rune sets in the entrance to the building, and they are laid out kind of like the element gates further in the building, coincidence?

I would like to think not, but I've tried taking those rune combinations
to the Symbolic Dials in the Underground Tomb, and nothing happened
when I put them in. I went so far as to set the dials, and walk back to
the building (maybe it did something without informing the user?) but
found nothing.

I haven't figured out what I'm missing, and I only have 1 item that
hasn't fit other quests so far. Any direction would be appreciated.

I'm having the same trouble as you. I did manage to open one gate as a fluke, the top gate on the left, and got the lightening key but then, of course, died without saving. I was playing with the dials at random, but I'm having no luck recreating it.

So you think it was tied to the Symbolic Dials then. Do you remember if there was a notification for it. Did it cutscreen to the gate opening, or did you tweak the dials, and just happen upon the gate being open? Or was it closed, but unlocked, and you just heppened to try it?

Thanks for the info.

I managed to enter the right code apparently (but can't remember for the life of me), and then it showed the gates opening. It wasn't a cutscene so much as the screen just shifting to show the gates and the curser being a crown.

I don't think they're random though. I think I just got lucky.

Excellent, thanks for the info. I figured that the opening would be shown, as the game was well done like that. I'm 5/8 through every combination on the Symbolic Dials now, so the codes can't hide much longer. I'll be sure to document the right codes when I get them. Again, many thanks.

I'm also 5/8's of the way through. Did you get all of the elemental gates open? Because now I'm just stuck on the other three (on the right side) and according to someone at GameTap it's random.

I haven't opened any of them yet. It's driving me buggy.

But I'm not sure that that save file is not corrupted a little bit. The quest to save the Royal Guard on the third floor of the castle is frozen in my game. So I may have to start over.

One I get one open, I be sure to post and try it in another save.

I'd really appreciate it. =D

As for the captured royal guard, you're supposed to bribe his capters with a golden coin. Have you tried doing that? Don't worry, you'll still have plenty left over for the well.. even after the guards and the well I still have three left over.

You know, that's about the only thing I haven't tried. I've been dumping coins into the well as soon as I've come across them. I haven't finished that task yet either, as I've seen nothing from the dumped coins except one less coin in my inventory. Thanks for the info, I'll go find another coin and give it a try.

I had to throw 12 coins into the well, I think. There are 16 total in the game (that I've found) and you only have to give the guards one. They're really cheap to buy off.

Yeah, my save is bad.

I think I've gone over 12 coins in the well,
and the guard on the third floor isn't interested in my coin.

It worked in my other save, so I'll write that one off,
and work from the new save. Just have to wait to get that
copy past the Fire Blast Fire Blast spell.

ouch... that random combination searching must be tedious. I just beat the game a couple days ago, and I can assure you that the combinations are not random. The keys for each of the element gates are hidden behind four of the gates unlocked with the underground dial, as you seem to have figured out by now. The dial combinations are directly related to the four combinations on the floor in the room that the elemental gates are in, but I'll let you figure out how for yourself. Be sure to pay attention to color.

I had this problem too. I think that once you offer the guard something else and he refuses it, then he ignores the coin. I'm guessing this is a bug or something that got overlooked.

Gnawing, how did you open the last three gates? The ones that don't have the colour coded combinations. That's what I'm stuck on, I can't find any hints for the last three on any of the levels.

There are four combination codes (aside from the colored ones) scattered throughout the game. One is partially hidden behind a wall, two are 'hidden in plain sight,' and I can't think off the top of my head where the other one is. But they all have the same stones at the ends of the combination that the colored ones have, so they're pretty easy to recognize for what they are. Just try walking all around again, and if you need further help, I'll try and create a few hints without giving the exact locations away.

Thank you, the thought of doing it "by chance" scared me. Are these hidden codes up in the castle too?
